ITINERARY

Day 1: – To Kibale Forest National Park

  • Early morning pick-up from your hotel or guesthouse in Entebbe or Kampala.
  • Depart for Kibale Forest National Park, driving through Mubende with scenic swampy areas, papyrus beds, and acacia woodlands.
  • Stop for lunch in Fort Portal, a royal town at the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains.

Driving Time: ± 6.5 hours

Accommodation: Kibale Forest Camp (Self-Contained Safari Tents)

Day 2: – Chimp Walk and Swamp Walk

  • After breakfast, embark on a 4-hour guided chimpanzee trek in Kibale Forest, home to over 1,400 chimpanzees and 12 other primate species. Learn about the forest’s rich flora, 250 butterfly species, and 375 bird species.
  • Afternoon: Visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-managed site with abundant birdlife, sitatungas, and bushbucks.
  • Optional: Chimp Habituation Experience ($50 per person) — a full-day trek starting at 5:30 AM with researchers, tracking chimps from dawn to nightfall.

Day 3: – To Queen Elizabeth National Park.

  • Depart early for Queen Elizabeth National Park, driving through the scenic Crater Lake region, with safe-to-swim crater lakes and frequent wildlife sightings.
  • Lunch stop en route, followed by a 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, spotting hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and abundant bird species.

Day 4: – To Kisoro or Bwindi

  • After breakfast, drive to Kisoro or South Bwindi, passing through the scenic Kigezi Highlands terraced hills, tropical and bamboo forests, and traditional villages.
  • Arrive in the afternoon and enjoy views of the Virunga Volcanoes, settling into your lodge for dinner.

Day 5: – Gorilla Tracking

  • After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before your gorilla trekking adventure.
  • Hike through dense forest to locate a gorilla family. Duration varies (2–8 hours), depending on gorilla movements. Spend one magical hour observing them up close.
  • Return to your lodge in the afternoon for relaxation and dinner.

Day 6: To Lake Mburo National Park

  • Depart early, driving through scenic western Uganda, including the Kanaba Gap and Lake Bunyonyi region.
  • Stop for lunch in Mbarara, then continue to Lake Mburo National Park, home to zebras, impalas, topis, and buffalo.
  • Afternoon/evening: Do a Game drive.

Day 7: – To Entebbe

  • Early morning game drive or nature walk in Lake Mburo to spot impalas, zebras, and other wildlife.

  • Transfer to your hotel in Entebbe or Entebbe International Airport for onward flight or journey.
